Skype 2.0 Beta + Webcam

Earlier today I wrote about my experience trying to get a Logitech Orbit AF webcam installed in Gentoo Linux. About 2 hours later, I finally got Skype 2.0 beta to work (after figuring out a problem with QT), and upon loading it, configuring it, and finding someone with whom to test it (thanks, mindjuju), I finally got a webcam to act as a streami...

Logitech Orbit AF and Gentoo
PoeticIntensity

This morning, I ended up with a new toy in my hands and as luck would have it, I also had a couple of hours to mess with it. The device is a Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF webcam. I've always had a little interest in videography (nothing compared to my interest in audio, however), and from time-to-time I've tried to get various webcams to work in L...

When will I ever learn to trust my wife, my brother, and my instinct?  Probably never. You see, Ryan, my brother, noted how bald the tires are on my Mustang GT about a month ago.  My wife also noted the same thing, as well as a pretty big storm coming this weekend.  Anyway...  I'll get on with the story. Sarah and I celebra...

I was floating around the webosphere, when I came upon this key, which, evidently is released by Microsoft themselves.  It is claimed to work on all Windows 98 CDs VP9VV-VJW7Q-MHY6W-JK47R-M2KGJ  I've personally verified that it works with Windows 98 1st Edition (helping my neighbor with computers too old to run XP efficiently...

Recently, I have had the opportunity to have my mind opened to various opportunities having to do with mortgages and investment properties, and whatnot, and in the midst of all this, we have had to contact the lending company on our primary mortgage. Yesterday, I was on hold for 1.5 hours with Citibank's collections department, after being transf...

Wow... I can't believe I'm still awake.  For future reference, the day after Thanksgiving is a day of pain.  It is a day of fear and dread.  But today was better. When I got married to my wonderful wife, she told me she would marry me on one condition.  Okay, okay... That's a lie.  But if I wrote down all the conditions u...

Well...  It came and went yet again. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Yesterday was a day filled with gratitude, family, good food, and fun. A couple of weeks ago, I spent some time in my car driving to and from Salt Lake City.  During the trip, I had the opportunity to listen to one of the best talks on Women's Roles in the LDS faith.  I was so impressed by the contents of this talk, I had to listen to the entire thing twice. Both times, both my heart and my eyes were fille...

Beyond yesterday's post, I haven't posted anything in awhile.  I guess it's because nothing really interesting has happened lately. My kids are growing like weeds, and I try to enjoy them when want to, and I'm trying to want to more often.  That's kind of a sad statement, but I don't believe I am a "born-to-parent" type of guy...

Things that impressed me for this chapter were different than any time I've read it before (that I can remember), and that, being as simple as it is, is a testament to me as to why we should continue reading the Book of Mormon throughout our entire lives. Interesting how Laman and Lemuel consider the spiritual visions of Lehi to be "foolishn...

Ya know...  One thing which really irks me is when someone tells me "I can't", for whatever reason.  So, I've been asked about headphones recently by a lot of friends.  So much so, that I thought I'd write down a few words, more regarding what you should not buy, rather than what you should.  This is simply due to the enormous amount of generally good, and wildly varying headphones out there. As most of you know, I'm an audio eng...

Reading the beginning of this chapter, I knew this was where the Lamanites and Nephites would enter into free commerce with one another.  When everyone is living by the same righteous standards, there is no need for distrust, or geographical boundaries, or anything else which comes from people living selfishly.  Honest living of the Gospe...

Seems that the testimony of Nephi against the people of Zarahemlah was centered around their disbelief in Christ.  Interesting that, as soon a Satan has control over a people, Christ is the first doctrine which is attacked. Also the story of the finding of the murderer of Seezoram is interesting through the eyes of the foreknowledge of God.&...

I had forgotten that in this chapter, Nephi sees the Lord descend from heaven to the people who would be born from Nephi. We just got back from a wonderful dinner at The Old Fisherman's Grotto on Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey California. The halibut was quite wonderful, but not nearly as good as the side-dish of clam chowder I got.  It really was fantastic. If you're ever in Monterey, CA, you simply have to get a bowl of that chowder.  It's quite amazing....
