okay
Alma : 39
First thing out of the gate that I noticed this time around with this chapter is that the first thing Alma says to Corianton regards his disobedience - in a possibly sarcastic way, or at very least - sincerely displeased. "Haven't your brothers been a good example for you?" Anyway... I found that interesting
Also noteworthy is the fact that Corianton didn't just happen to find the prostitute while working... He "left the ministry", and not only the ministry, but the whole city and went to seek out a specific prostitute. Sounds like this was definitely something grevious.
Verse 5 is definitely a verse which today's society needs. As sexual sin is not only accepted in the mainstream, it's actively promoted. The last time I went to Vegas for a Jason Mraz concert, it was all I could do to not keep my eyes open to the bombardment of sexually implicit ads all over the place. Couldn't even look at the ground, because of all the literature strewn about... That was worse than the electronic billboards. Anyway... According to verse 5, there are only two sins worse than sexual sin. That means it ranks pretty high.
Verse six could be debated for pages. Is murder (the shedding of innocent blood) forgivable, or not? According to this verse, it is. According to pretty much every other reference to the shedding of innocent blood, it is not. Still waiting for the missing link on this one.
Verse 7 is a pretty good explanation for the harsh beginning of this chapter. "It's for your good"
I should print verse 9 out and staple it to the insides of my eyelids. Being a guy these days is pretty hard. Gotta keep the thoughts clean and the intentions pure. "Cross yourself in these things."
My little brother needs to take heed to verse 10 (just kiddn' Ry).
"for when they saw your conduct they would not believe in my words." - words I never - ever want to hear directed toward me. As sweet as the joy has been in my life in bringing souls to repentance, I can only imagine the pain felt by those who have led souls astray.
That's about all for this one. Thanks for reading!
