Skype 2.0 Beta + Webcam
PoeticIntensity

Earlier today I wrote about my experience trying to get a Logitech Orbit AF webcam installed in Gentoo Linux. About 2 hours later, I finally got Skype 2.0 beta to work (after figuring out a problem with QT), and upon loading it, configuring it, and finding someone with whom to test it (thanks, mindjuju), I finally got a webcam to act as a streami...

Logitech Orbit AF and Gentoo
PoeticIntensity

This morning, I ended up with a new toy in my hands and as luck would have it, I also had a couple of hours to mess with it. The device is a Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF webcam. I've always had a little interest in videography (nothing compared to my interest in audio, however), and from time-to-time I've tried to get various webcams to work in L...

When will I ever learn to trust my wife, my brother, and my instinct?  Probably never. You see, Ryan, my brother, noted how bald the tires are on my Mustang GT about a month ago.  My wife also noted the same thing, as well as a pretty big storm coming this weekend.  Anyway...  I'll get on with the story. Sarah and I celebra...

Windows 98 Product Key

I was floating around the webosphere, when I came upon this key, which, evidently is released by Microsoft themselves.  It is claimed to work on all Windows 98 CDs VP9VV-VJW7Q-MHY6W-JK47R-M2KGJ  I've personally verified that it works with Windows 98 1st Edition (helping my neighbor with computers too old to run XP efficiently...

The Value of Words

Recently, I have had the opportunity to have my mind opened to various opportunities having to do with mortgages and investment properties, and whatnot, and in the midst of all this, we have had to contact the lending company on our primary mortgage. Yesterday, I was on hold for 1.5 hours with Citibank's collections department, after being transf...

Sitting here before I begin this entry, I have to sit and sigh...  A sigh of gratitude. Today has been a Sabbath of great spiritual confirmations of simple truths. Wow... I can't believe I'm still awake.  For future reference, the day after Thanksgiving is a day of pain.  It is a day of fear and dread.  But today was better. When I got married to my wonderful wife, she told me she would marry me on one condition.  Okay, okay... That's a lie.  But if I wrote down all the conditions u...

Well...  It came and went yet again. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Yesterday was a day filled with gratitude, family, good food, and fun. Women's Roles / LDS Beliefs

A couple of weeks ago, I spent some time in my car driving to and from Salt Lake City.  During the trip, I had the opportunity to listen to one of the best talks on Women's Roles in the LDS faith.  I was so impressed by the contents of this talk, I had to listen to the entire thing twice. Both times, both my heart and my eyes were fille...

Beyond yesterday's post, I haven't posted anything in awhile.  I guess it's because nothing really interesting has happened lately. My kids are growing like weeds, and I try to enjoy them when want to, and I'm trying to want to more often.  That's kind of a sad statement, but I don't believe I am a "born-to-parent" type of guy...

Awhile back, I found that many DVD titles released by Sony weren't able to be viewed with mplayer.  This annoyed me. So, I investigated a bit and found that VLC (another wonderful media player) could not only play them back, but also rip them with ease.  Up until a bit ago, this has been the case since the writing of that article. I've recently become part of a cover band and we're getting to the point now where we need to choose a name.  None of us can agree, so we need your help.  We currently have a pool of about 100 possible names, and you can vote on any or all of them by clicking here. So far, our set list is the following: With or without you ...

Okay...  So ABS mixed a song from a band I was in called EnZign a couple of years ago, and the song hasn't been touched since.  Well, I opened it up about a week ago, and found it a bit grating on my ears.  Here, take a listen and tell me what you think of that snare drum.  Talk about piercing. Last spring, I modified my car - and then modified it again. The 2nd modifications entailed me re-programming (or flashing, or tuning) my car's computer.  One thing I didn't realize at the time was that evidently, a standard protocol for most tuners out there is to turn off the O2 sensors which monitor emissions after the catalytic converter...

I had forgotten that in this chapter, Nephi sees the Lord descend from heaven to the people who would be born from Nephi. I put myself in his situation, and quite honestly , I have no idea how I would react.  It would be so supremely surreal - seeing your kids' kids' kids' kids, and then seeing the Savior of the world show himself unto them....

To tell you the truth, I didn't get much out of the scriptures tonight.  There was a verse from which I thought I could derive meaning. Verse 15. We just got back from a wonderful dinner at The Old Fisherman's Grotto on Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey California.
