I don't even know where to begin, to tell you the truth.  I'll do my best, but I've got a novel inside me for what happened yesterday.  All in all, it was quite simple, but at the same time it was probably the most profound thing which has happened to me in years...  and I have no idea how to portray it. Let me begin with the foll...

This was the last talk given in the April General Conference of 2008, and President Monson did a wonderful job. I love how he wants to be personal with us, to tell us of his family and his experiences.  I feel the love coming from him and know he loves the Savior. Not having watched many talks given by President Monson as president of th...

I just got done watching and reading the talk given by Elder M. Russell Ballard, and it caused me to ponder my wife, quite a bit. Boiled down, the talk was given on how much mothers do, and how much we, as husbands, need to appreciate them. I certainly hope that I'm appreciating Sarah enough.  Heaven knows I've been in Elder Ballard's plac...

Man, I need to write more about spiritual stuff.  I've been slacking a bit. Anyway, the talk given about the Book of Mormon by Elder Christensen was really a good one. It brought back sweet memories of my life.  Early on, during my mission, I taught a family who had been been searching for the Book of Mormon for years.  Of course...

Well I was going to do this last night but it was just to much to do.  So here it goes.  Wow what a life changing event.  This might be a little bit graphic for some but I am going to tell it how it is.  So here it goes.  Yesterday I worked at the airport I transport people to and from the airport.  I was called to go ...

Well...  I just spent about 2 hours writing a how-to on going from an Nvidia-based graphics system in gentoo Linux to an ATI one, but I accidentally erased the whole thing, so I'm going to try my best to be patient and do it again. When I originally got the box for my new ATI Radeon HD4850 video card this morning, I was impressed even in the ...

Okay...    Ever since Nvidia came out with their Geforce series, I've been hooked.  I've built upwards of 100 systems in my life (family / friends / work) and out of those, about 90% of them use Nvidia video cards.  I also highly prefer AMD.  In fact, the very first computer I built was an AMD K6-2 250MHZ machine with ...

So, about 9 months ago I finshed my personal progress. It felt amazing to have done it! Sunday at our Fireside they called me up infront of everybody, keep in mind theres a few hundred people there. Once I got up there they handed me a letter and told me how proud they all were.... So I go back and sit with my friends and brother!  I got hom...

I got married like a bit more than 5 years ago, and I'm lovin' it. But, during those five years, I've had some footage gracefully shot and donated to me by my friend Ty Swartzlander on my wedding day.  On that day, Ty told me he was going to put something together and give it to me later, but instead, I told him I'd really, really, real...

I enjoyed this talk, but to tell you the truth, I have no idea what to write about it.  I think it has to do more with my current mood than anything else. The talk made a great point that we need to live in the now.  We need to utilize the atonement of Christ in order to secure a great tomorrow. And as far as yesterday goes, I believe...

I'm probably going to re-write this later, but I just wanted to jot down quickly how to do text with Kdenlive. It's really quite easy to set it up.  You just click on "Project->Create Text Clip", and proceed to create your clip. My problem was this:  What if I don't want the text on its own page, but rather have it show...

It seems to me like this chapter has a very deep meaning, but I couldn't quite get it this time. The whole chapter is about making covenants, and becoming a child of Christ. It's interesting that after verses 2, 3, and 4, the last word on verse 4 is "joy".  After they had heard the word of God, had their hearts changed through ...

Sorry I couldn't write yesterday, I got a little preoccupied. My sister is going to camp with my mother (she wrote about it in HER journal) WITHOUT ME. They left at about 1:00pm and got there at 3:00pm.They're coming back on Sunday and will be home by about 8:00pm. I was mad, but then I remembered I get to go with the whole Young Women gr...

I thought I wouldn't do anything today... Mostly because I was feeling a bit ill...  But, I figured there was no better way to usher in the new year! Happy New Years 2010 to everyone!  And hope you enjoy AdvancedOnlineDrums' version of Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Click for video. ...

I just got done watching this 10-minute video.  I don't even want to pretend I can play the drums anymore. A-freaking-mazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHDjGtj18X0...

Ya know, I thought up until now that verse 6 refers only to the people under the reign of king Lamoni.  Evidently, it was everyone under the king of the entire Lamanite nation.  Amazing, amazing missionary work. Heh... Yeah... In reading the rest of the chapter, it pretty much names exactly the cities which were converted.  I guess...

My wife left this morning for Girls' Camp (she's a leader), and so my mom came down to help with the chil'lins.  It's been good to spend some time with her. We watched The Eagle's Concert "Hell Frozen Over", and she not only watched the whole thing, but she *really* enjoyed it.  It was great. We then talked about this site I...

We've been recording a bunch of drum-takes to be added to otherwise "ready-to-go" songs lately here.  The latest of which happened to be a genre I particularly don't like much - country. But, the music sounded so good for this particular song, I decided to have at it anyway - and 4 hours later, we came up with the final result. I...

The Power to Change Are there tears in me For who I want to be? Humbly in meek prayer, I'll extend all energy. With God's help I can abstain. A new life I can obtain. I will hold to the rod, With my life close to God Through His narrow paths I will trod.   Can these tears of mine Cleanse all my soul and mind? With the S...

Well, yesterday the studio received a new addition.  We're now employing a much more powerful and dynamic 8-channel Octopre preamp!  This will allow us to record much more dynamic sources.  The initial impression I get from this new device is that it, of course, is much, much more powerful.  It also seems to record with a bit mo...

This might be the only "current events" post I ever do, but something has been puzzling me for the past 6-12 months. Last night, I watched the last half of the democratic candidates' debate on TV, and although it wasn't mentioned much, there were still a couple of references to a "downward economy", and the need for "job...

With the new design of ILMJ, I thought it fitting for people to be able to add their own static links on their blogs...  Doing so is very easy. A "page" in your blog is simply an entry which stays in the left-hand column on both your main blog site, and each individual entry, as is illustrated below: So, as you can see,...

The majority of my coding life has been spent with two tools. PHP MySQL I don't claim to be a guru programmer, but the various professional problems which have been presented to me have always found their solution using these two tools. They're great tools. *sigh* Recently I've found out that Oracle owns both sleepy cat's db en...

First thing out of the gate that I noticed this time around with this chapter is that the first thing Alma says to Corianton regards his disobedience - in a possibly sarcastic way, or at very least - sincerely displeased.  "Haven't your brothers been a good example for you?"  Anyway... I found that interesting Also noteworthy ...

Interesting that I should choose to read this today, because my wife and I were talking a bit about the 2nd coming last weekend.  The second coming shall be like a "refiner's fire", which, of course, is meant to purify - or to burn out impurities.  That which abides by the law is sanctified by the same.  A talk I once heard...

The studio has been busy as ever, and some improvements are coming down the pipeline, but before we get to that, let me say that I had the privilege of working with another wonderful young lady last week. Kaelynn Allred's new song, "Back To Love" is about as cute as they come.  Tying sweet themes from nursery rhymes into a smile-in...

Sadly, lots of problems exist with the world today.  I guess it's human nature to create problems, and ya know...?  I'm alright with that.  Problems need to exist in order for life to be life, right?  Yup...  The eternal struggle for self-improvement, or whatever. Anyway...  One thing that irks me quite a bit, and a...

Well...  Our pumpkins this year were just so darned cute, I had to blog about em' - I mean, after all, this is my journal! So, without further ado, here are a few photos of the 2007 Jones Family Halloween Pumpkin Carving Extravaganza! ...

Sitting here pondering what to write. I could write about a synopsis of 1st Nephi, which I finished last night, or I could just dive into 2nd Nephi.  I think I'll do the latter. Verse 6 could be quite the controversial verse, for people who didn't like the Spanish conquest, or Christopher Colombus.  Yet, the verse still is what the ...

Wow... What a week this has been! Yesterday, we welcomed in a new client, ScramJet to the studio by running a recording marathon with them! We pulled a full 8-hour session and all through yesterday, we managed to get recordings for three whole songs.  By the end of the day, our engineer was ready to collapse. Today, they all came back to...
