Studio Drum Upgrade
I'm pretty sure everyone knows that feeling of having to do something, just for the sake of doing it.  This happened to me about 2 weeks ago.  I got the feeling that something needed upgrading in the studio.  Lately, I've been buying a few guitars, and some great microphones, as well as upgrading the main studio software.  So, as I thought, my thought turned towards our speciality:  DRUMS!

The more I thought about it, the more it both did and didn't make sense.  On the one hand, the studio kit we've been using is a Gretch Catalina Birch, and it's been awesome.  I love the sounds of the drums, the cymbals, and everything.  I've never given it a second thought.  It's been rock-solid and a great performer.  On the other hand, however, is that I've had it for 10 years, and it's getting kind of stale.  So...  I started looking around, and with the help of Backbeats Drum store in Salt Lake City, I decided to take the dive.

So, without further ado, I present to you, the new darling of Advanced Budget Studios:

The DW Performance 5-piece Maple kit.  Complete with a line of Sabian AAX cymbals, two 10" splashes, a custom Twenty 18" Paiste thin crash, and (of course) a killer Sabian china, all held together with a Gibaltar cage.

I haven't recorded anything with it yet, but that is coming very soon.  The one time I've played it, it has been like heaven has descended a little closer, yet.

Yes, people, I'm in love.
