3 Nephi : 2
Ya know... I think these chapters are meant to teach us how frail the hearts of men are. Okay... Here's a good question.. How long did it take the Nephites to go from "seeing the sign of the birth of Jesus Christ" (this is *Christ* we're talking about here. *The Messiah*. How long did it take them from seeing that to going back to wickedness?
THREE WHOLE FRIGGIN' YEARS!
That blows my mind. I'd hope that if I 1. heard prophets testify of the coming of Christ, and give specific examples of signs and wonders which were to come to pass, and 2. actually see those signs and wonders, I'd like to think I'd have enough of a testimony to stay true for more than THREE YEARS!
Wow... I find that insane.
But, then again, I guess this is a prime example of the necessity of faith. Faith and witness of truth through the Holy Ghost has quite an impact upon the hearts of men. I guess that is more-so than actually seeing the sun go down, and there still be light, according to the prophecies of a prophet.
