Alma : 7
I just finished reading Alma 7 and, once again, am in a state of mind which makes it hard to actually get any spiritual nourishment from it. I'm not entirely sure what's going on with me now-a-days, but I don't really like it all that much.
Anyway... Here goes with what I got from the chapter (it being among the best chapters in the whole Book of Mormon)
I'd have to say the first verse which jumped at me this time around (not verse 12 - that seemed a bit over-elaborated lately) was verse 15:
Yea, I say unto you come and fear not, and lay aside every sin, which easily doth beset you, which doth bind you down to destruction, yea, come and go forth, and show unto your God that ye are willing to repent of your sins and enter into a covenant with him to keep his commandments, and witness it unto him this day by going into the waters of baptism.
I guess that was an emphasized scripture due to my mental state lately, but I really, really enjoy and appreciate our Savior's constant pleading and gentle persuading for us come unto him and repent of our sins so He can take over and give us peace in this life and Eternal Life in the life to come. The aforementioned verse really illustrates that, I think. "...come, and fear not..."
On a side-note, I am left wondering what "making his path's straight" means when referring to the Lord...? Aren't His paths already straight?
