tired
Mosiah : 24
Hmm.... I'm kind of tired right now, but I figured I needed to read some scriptures...
This time around, I realize how being under the rule of a tyrant would be absolutely horrible. In this case, Alma was under the rule of one (or more) of the Amulonites - which were his wicked peers when they were the king's priests. Talk about being in a perilous condition when they find Alma and are put over him as rulers. I imagine it would be kind of like imagining your worst enemy being your king. Not fun.
Verse 13 was especially meaningful for me this time. The word "covenant" stood out to me big time. The Lord is definitely a God of covenants, and the phrase, "Lift up your heads and be of good comfort, for I know of the covenant which ye have made unto me; and I will covenant with my people and deliver them out of bondage."
I just did a search for the phrase "out of bondage", and I was surprised how many scriptures came up. There are references to it all over in the Book of Mormon.
Also, the covenant they made, to which verse 13 refers, is found in Mosiah 18.
Good stuff... It's also interesting that, in contrast to the people of Limhi who made their escape by strategem, the people of Alma simply left it up to God to put the guards to sleep. Not insinuating that one is better than the other - it's just interesting to note.
