Gen. Conf. - Three Presiding - Walker
I just finished reading through this talk, and it brought some thoughts to mind...
With Elder Walker's example of his grandparents displaying a photo of the First Presidency, I totally agree with the analogy, "
Years later I concluded that displaying the picture of the First Presidency was equivalent to Joshua’s beautiful expression: 'Choose you this day whom ye will serve; . . . as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord'"
Above our mantel in our home in Springville, we have a photo by Liz Lemon Swindle depicting the Savior playing with children, and every time I look at it, it inspires me and helps me remember who I am truly serving.
Growing up, I remember looking at pictures on our walls of things my grandmother had drawn or made. All of them had meaning and were beautiful. There were also quotes given by prophets on the refrigerator, and other things important to my mom posted around the house.
I guess what I got from this talk wasn't at all what Elder Walker intended, but that's the way the Spirit works sometimes.
