Gen. Conf. - Our Hearts - Lund
This talk really got me thinking about where my heart is.
As I've grown older, my pet sins are still doing their best to have their portion of my heart dedicated to them. I'm still doing my best to assure they don't.
Often, I wonder how my life will differ in this aspect 5 or 10 years from now. Will I still struggle with the same sins? Will I give in to them? Will I allow the Spirit to have full sway upon my heart in such a manner as to rid myself from them entirely?
The more I strive to let the Spirit of God into my life continually, the less room sin has to occupy.
Ultimately, it is entirely up to me. It is my choice.
From the talk:
"While none of our hearts are perfect, the more diligently we strive to eliminate impurity, or push out things which do not belong there, the more we open our hearts to the Holy Spirit."
"I say again, the condition of our hearts directly affects our sensitivity to spiritual things. Let us make it a part of our everyday striving to open our hearts to the Spirit. Since we are the guardians of our hearts, we can choose to do so. We choose what we let in or hold out."
