Words Of Mormon
Today during gospel doctrine, our teacher brought up a point I'm not entirely sure I knew or not.
When Nephi states that he is keeping the record for a "wise purpose" in God, yet Nephi openly states he doesn't know what that purpose is, I've always assumed that purpose is the coming forth of the Book of Mormon.
And I was right... Sort of.
After a bit of discussion, it became clear that the "wise purpose" was a bit more than the general coming of the Book of Mormon.
If Nephi had not followed the commandment of God to keep a separate record of the larger plates which contained only the spiritual highlights of what was going on, we wouldn't have any scripture for the time before King Benjamin.
That, I believe, is a more specific "wise purpose" to keep the small plates of Nephi.
I love finding out nuggets of knowledge from the scriptures. I hope I never stop.
