2nd Nephi : 26 - Part 1
First thing I noticed in this chapter is verse 1. He tells his children that Christ will show himself unto them. How is this possible if this was written approximately 550 years before Christ would come? Very interesting... I'll have to research that.
Verse 7 pops out at me like a bolt of lightning. I've been looking for a scripture which manifests the feelings the prophets must surely have knowing what they know. It's almost as if Nephi just blurts out some feeling which has been burying itself in him since he first saw the ultimate destruction of his people.
People who are close to Christ are filled with love toward their fellow men. They are filled with even more love toward those whom they love.
For a prophet to see the total destruction of his progenitors must be terribly difficult.
I am very glad Nephi wrote that verse (as well as 8), as difficult as it must have been.
Seemingly passing judgement as Nephi does in verse 10 might be a bit difficult for some to swallow. We must remember, however, that Nephi has already seen what is to come, therefore, in his assignment of hell to those who chose the works of darkness is only justifying what he already had seen through the Spirit of Christ.
Chapter 26 to be continued tomorrow.
