2nd Nephi : 5
First thing which caught my attention this time around is verse 6.
I relate that verse to the way the Lord works. Basically, God lets everyone know about his plan, and those who believe Him will follow him.
This makes me wonder if Nephi, through some sort of parable, told Laman and Lemuel what he was planning to do as well, but they didn't believe him. Most likely not, due to verse 5 blatantly stating the Lord's warning to "depart from them". Hehe... Anyway... I thought it was interesting, the parallel there.
...
Ya know... Having just read verse 14, it becomes overly apparent why I'm a republican. What did Nephi do? Well... He knew there were people out there who wanted to kill him, so he prepared himself for the possibility of war. He didn't feel like he needed to negotiate or try to understand them more in the hopes of averting war; he simply prepared for it by forging swords.
I guess this comes as a result of this year being an election year and all - and I'm not too happy about the candidates so far, on either side. Ah well.. T'was the first thing that came to my mind when I read verse 14. I'll continue on now.
Verses 27 and 32 are worth noting here, as well. Verse 27 could be something to create some sort of word art with, and hang on a wall. Simply beautiful.
32 is basically saying, these writings are writings of God. If you love God, you'll love these writings.
I'm going to bed now.
