1st Nephi : 14
When I sit and think about what I just read, the 14th chapter of 1st Nephi is pretty crazy.
Just a few points...
The majority of the chapter is all about the "mother of abominations" and the "whore of all the earth".
I believe it's written here to clarify the impact this (these) church(es) has (have) had upon the plain and precious truths which were once found in the Bible.
Thank heavens for verse 10. Anyone who says that the church in Nephi's vision is such and such church, just needs to be reminded of that verse, and they'll be set to truth.
It's also very interesting that the angel told Nephi that the account of John the Revelator at the end of the Bible was once "plain and pure" and "easy to the understanding of all men". Holy cow, that'd be a good day. Revelation is indeed one of the most difficult of all scripture to understand for me. Too bad it's been muddled with.
All in all, this chapter is quite rife with doctrinal nuggets.
