1st Nephi : 13
Where do I even begin with this chapter?

I remember reading it and understanding it for the first time during my mission.  It was really cool realizing that all of this stuff in this chapter is written about in history books!  It talks about Christopher Columbus discovering America, the Revolutionary War, the Bible, the coming of the Book of Mormon (I wonder how Nephi felt while having an angel and vision telling him that the book he was keeping would bring truth and light to all the generations of the last days.), and a bunch of other stuff.

One thing I hesitate to openly talk about, for what reason I'm not sure, is the specifics on the "great and abominable church" which is referred to multiple times in this chapter.  To me, it's overly obvious to which church it is referring.  I'd like some other points of view on this, if possible.

Heh... On that note, I was in church when a member raised his hand during gospel doctrine and blatantly specified which church this was referring to, and after that - not much else was accomplished due to the varying opinions coming from all sides.  Hmm.... Anyway...

This chapter for me was a huge help in getting me to realize just how real the Book of Mormon is.

This time around, nothing new jumped out at me, but it certainly was a treat reading it again.
