My Mustang GT has gas. (85 octane, that is)
Since I purchased my 2007 Mustang GT in January of 2007, I've been putting 85 Octane gas in it. I didn't notice any pings, nor anything else to make me think I was putting the wrong gas in it. Well, my dad was in it two days ago and asked me what gas I was using. When I told him, he couldn't believe I would do such a thing. Well....

In my defense, I read loads of reviews on the new mustang and everywhere upon everywhere said that the car doesn't need "premium" gas. It only needs "regular". I took this as meaning "not 91 octane".

Upon reading the manual, it states quite blatantly that the car is tuned for 87 octane gas. Holy schmoly. No wonder I have a hard time beating SRT-4 Neons and Supercharged Cobalts. Freak! So, today I put some 91 in with the almost-above-a-quarter-full-tank of 85, and I'll be darned if there isn't a noticeable boost in low-end power. I'm also assuming, although I can't really tell, there will also be a power increase in the mid and upper ranges as well.

We'll soon see!
