Ya know.. I think the whole "sight" thing is over-rated. "Dispute not because ye see not" just shouldn't be an issue. Prime example is Laman and Lemuel. They saw angels, and it didn't do jack-squat. Personally, I believe the sense of the Spirit (as opposed to the sense of sight, or hearing, or touch) can be a much more potent means of changing ones soul. After all, it was the Spirit of faith which made people not capable of disbelieving the words of Nephi (in
3rd Nephi 7:18).... It wasn't sight.
Okay... What's the deal with verses 7 and 8? End of 7, he says he shows himself not unto the world, and then beginning of 8 says that he showed himself unto the world. Seemingly contradictory, but I know it's not. Just can't figure it out right now.
Verse 12: No faith = no miracles.
Ya know, I really enjoy it when Mormon and Moroni insert their own little side-notes into the scriptures. I'm pretty sure that Moroni just got to thinking about faith while writing this chapter, and that brought on the whole discussion about weakness, hope, and charity. ...and of course, he ends with an invitation, as all good missionaries do.
Great chapter. Probably the best chapter on faith in existence.
