Musical Marathon Madness
"Is this week already over??" Wow... I guess it's Saturday night. Yup.
This week, the studio has been packed. Full house. Monday was the only day without sessions, and that was on purpose. Tuesday through Saturday was full, and that's the way we like it here at Advanced Budget Studios.
Yesterday and today we had ScramJet over laying down tracks. Yesterday we laid down some solid drums, and today (for 11 straight hours) we laid down the rest. We still have a couple hours of mixing left, but the tracks should be hot off the press soon. Thanks for making this week that much more musical, ScramJet!
Thursday, we had David Harris in piping some mad vocals through our systems. David is also a studio regular. Can't wait to get your new band's tunes recorded, David!
Then Wednesday, we had Alex Bateman in for a 2nd round of musical goodness. The session with Alex was, without question, the funnest session we've had to date here at ABS. Some of the most unorthodox, most creative, and most spontaneous tracking happened that evening, and the result was, not surprisingly, one of the most creative pieces we've had the honor of recording here. We broke in our new Apex 205 ribbon mics on those cymbal hits. Let's just say that ribbon mics should never be used the way we used them, but man - ain't no cymbals hits ever sounded like that before! Great time, Alex. Come back anytime. (You can hear Alex's stuff on Facebook, if you're privileged to be his friend. The song's name is "Brey Brey")
Tuesday, we had Lucid 8 back in the house, getting guitars down, and this is one album we can't wait to finish. Lucid 8 has some of the best musicians we've ever had in the studio.
Once again - thank you all for choosing Advanced Budget Studios!
