Hmm.... I can't help but contrast a note like this one being sent between friends today. Holy cow.
If I were to send a message like this to any one of my friends (Pahoran was a good man, and a friend to captain Moroni), I'm fairly sure I would at very least offend them to the point of damaging the friendship, and at most, cause them to hate me forever. Captain Moroni blatantly threatens the lives Pahoran and those in the government multiple times - always with the caveat that "should you be evil" or some such phrase... But still... In the next chapter we're going to find out that Pahoran is still righteous and he's in his own predicament....
That's really the only inspiration coming to me now. Just very interesting that we live in drastically different times now than were lived back in the days of Moroni, for sure.
I wonder what would have happened had he just sent a message saying, "Yo, Pahoran... You okay? We're really struggling down here right now, and we need supplies. Please send them if you can. Waiting for your reply, Captain Moroni"
