Ya know... Today was a good Sunday. In church, we learned about trials, and the nature of them - why God gives them to us, and why we need them.
D&C 58 1-4 is a great reference if you're looking for some good stuff on trials. We talked a lot about Zion's Camp, and the general tendency the early saints had toward generating persecution. We also talked about why that was so important to the early saints of this generation.
Why do we need trials, as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? I guess the saying, "What doesn't kill you will make you stronger", applies here. In one place, the scriptures quote trials as being a "
furnace of affliction" Also, such phrases as "refiner's fire" are also found.
I guess it's nothing new, but taken in the light of our current situation, it sheds a bit of light on things.
Anyway... It's a bit late, and I've still got things I need to do, but I just thought I'd share.
With God at the helm, any situation in life can be looked upon with hope.
