Interesting First Day...
Yup.. Today was my first day at the new job. Now, if anyone has gone through a lot of jobs with the honest intent of keeping every one he had, it's me. I've just had the luck of getting "let go" because of downsizing or whatever. Anyway... Usually, the first day on the job entails signing a bunch of paperwork and settling in. Today was anything but that for me. In fact, my workstation still has windows on it, and is practically untouched. Immediately upon arriving there, we had a meeting (didn't even have time to put my bag at my desk) about what versions of Linux we're going to install on the servers. Although I put in a good word for Gentoo, we ended up settling on SLES for the support. I'm sure this will be a mistake, since we'd have to pay through the ying-yang for the support if anything should happen, and I'll probably end up supporting it myself.

So... I spent the day installing Linux, in meetings, chattin' with the co-workers, and basically acting like I'd already been there at least six months. So far, so good.

My goal today was easy to keep. I was at work from 8 to 6 and since working is keeping an income to provide for my family, I can pretty much say that my day at work was spent strengthening my family. When I got home, Sarah asked to go to enrichment, and I didn't fuss about it at all. I usually only fuss on the inside, but this time, I tried to be honestly okay with staying home with Luci, even though I was freaking T-I-R-E-D and ready drift off to sleep on the barstool.

Okay, I'm tired, and I've got to get some good sleep tonight. It snowed like six inches here last night, by the way.

Okay, bye.
