Gen. Conf. - Abuse - Scott
While Elder Scott was talking about the justice of the Father, I couldn't help but remember a very simple conversation I had with a childhood friend named Jared Peck.
He was talking about scenarios of people hurting the ones he loved, and how he would get back at them. I sat and made the required remarks such as, "oh", and "yeah", and "that's cool"...
He then asked me what I would do if I were in such a circumstance. I had been thinking along those lines anyway, so I quickly replied, "God will take care of it, I'm sure."
It's interesting to me how my faith has changed over the years. I'm not so sure I could just let someone injure someone I love and have that same attitude.... Anyway... Just something that popped into my head.
I also love the quote, "Satan is the author of all of the destructive outcomes of abuse. He has extraordinary capacity to lead an individual into blind alleys where the solution to extremely challenging problems cannot be found."
Sometimes, I need to realize more fully that Satan really does have "extraordinary capacity" to entice me to sin. I think it might help me avoid some situations.
This talk also causes me to reflect upon how blessed my life has been.
Yes, I was spanked multiple times as a child, but that was the extent of it. My parents knew the boundary between discipline and abuse, and they never even approached it.
I thank God for that.
