Christ-like Neighbor
Here I am again, in my bed typing in my journal on my laptop. Ya know, life is really good. Life has dealt me a bunch of cards which I interpret as being quite possibly the "straight flush" of life. Has it been easy? Nah. But I can't complain - nope, not one bit. Now, then.. on with the story.

In my last entry, I briefly mentioned that my good neighbor Jeff Hatfield helped me out while I was in a pinch early last month. Well, I need to elaborate on that.

I was at my wits' end that night, after having wrecked my BRAND-SPANKIN'-NEW MUSTANG GT, not being able to start my old car after trying to push it around for two freezing hours in the middle of the night. Yeah.. Life wasn't too spanky then.

The following morning, Jeff Hatfield, unbeknownst to me, drove off to attend the Temple early. He saw my 626 parked half-baked in the driveway, with the latter end practically blocking traffic. He told me later that when he saw that, he thought to himself "That is a sign of a man at his wits' end".

Let me pause here and think to myself, as I have thought in the past about this incident... "Would Jason Jones think that if he saw his neighbor's car in that situation?" Sadly, I think I would have to say, "No." I would probably laugh and wonder what the heck was wrong with my crazy neighbor. Strike one.

After Jeff returns from the Temple, he probably spends enough time to run into his house, say "hi" to his wife and 3 kids before running over to my house and seeing how I am. After I tell him what happened, he runs over to his house, immediately gets into his truck, and goes to purchase a tow-rope so he can help me.

Now, let's stop here and ask Jason another question. "Would you have done that? Would you not even think twice about going and spending money on a part to help your neighbor without him even asking?" My answer here is... Maybe. But I know I wouldn't have done it as quickly as Jeff did. He wasted no time, and needed no asking. I never asked him to do what he did. I simply explained to him the situation I found myself in, and he did the rest.

He then arrived back home, connected the tow rope to my car, and we successfully got it started.

I'd type more, but my wife needs me now. Hopefully I'll continue this later.

To wrap it up, Jeff Hatfield showed me more of how I could be a better person. He also showed me what I'm sure Christ would have done had he been my neighbor.

Thanks, Jeff.
